NetSuite is a powerful ERP. But if you have used it, you know it is not always easy to find what you are looking for.
To get simple piece of data, you often have to navigate through multiple pages and wait for pages to load, and go through complex reports, And it takes time.
The founders of Buddy Bot wanted to change this. They wanted to querying data out of NetSuite as easy as sending a message to a coworker. They reached out to us to help them build it.
The idea was simple. Instead of clicking around, what if you could just ask NetSuite a question in plain English?
The challenge: connecting Rails to NetSuite
We built the backend using Ruby on Rails. For the AI integration, we used OpenAI's API.
But out of the box, ChatGPT does not know anything about your private business data. We needed a way for it to safely read your NetSuite records.
The problem is that a NetSuite database is massive, and every company customizes it differently. You cannot simply feed all that information to an AI at once.
Our Rails app solves this by keeping a small, organized map of your NetSuite setup. When you ask a question, the app figures out exactly which few tables the AI needs to look at.
Now, when you ask, "What was our revenue in Q3?", our app gives the AI the exact context it needs. The AI translates your English into a query, our app securely asks NetSuite for the data, and you get your answer instantly.
We delivered the first working version in 8 months. Within 15 months, the full product was live.
Today, multiple businesses use Buddy Bot every day. It saves them hundreds of hours of manual work. People get the data they need instantly, and it makes using NetSuite a much better experience.
