ERP Buddies website

How we moved ERP Buddies from a slow, plugin-heavy WordPress site to a Next.js site.

Services: Full-stack website development

The result: A site that handles traffic spikes. And the team can easily update content.

ERP Buddies is a consultancy that helps businesses with NetSuite ERP. Their website had grown to 146 pages and it was built on WordPress.

WordPress builds every page on each request. When a heavy theme and too many plugins are added, pages load slowly, which annoys visitors and hurts search rankings. Those plugins also conflict or break after updates. And if traffic spikes, you'll end up needing an expensive server just to keep everything online. Due to all these issues, they reached out to us to fix it.

How we safely moved 146 pages

We rebuilt ERP Buddies' site in Next.js.

We kept their old WordPress site running while we built the new site. We mapped every old URL, and where a URL had to change we added a redirect making sure that URL does not lose its Google search rankings.

With Next.js, pages are built ahead of time instead of on each request. We deployed it to Vercel, which caches those pages at the edge. The site is now static files served from a CDN. So it can easily handle traffic spikes without a bigger server.

Since Next.js doesn't use plugins, we just wrote the code they needed. We moved all their content into a CMS that the marketing team can update easily.

One developer did the whole migration within 10 months.
